Bennett Randman, earned degrees at the University of Tennessee and Duquesne University.  He studied with noted cellists Nathaniel Rosen and Leslie Parnas.  Prior to coming to Mississippi, he was Assistant Principal Cellist with the Charlotte Symphony, Principal Cellist with the Charlotte Chamber Orchestra, and cellist with the Seattle Symphony and the Northwest Chamber Orchestra.  Randman’s solo career began in 1986 with a critically acclaimed performance of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme” with Maestro Sheldon Morgenstern and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.  Other solo performances include return performances with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, and appearances with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and the 1989 Mississippi Showcase Concert.  Since 2007 he has been an artist and faculty member of the Maud Powell Music Festival.
