The Premier Orchestral Institute returned to Millsaps College June 9-14 for a magical week of music, mentorship and unforgettable performances! With participants hailing from 17 countries, POI partnered with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to bring together a global community of musicians right here in Jackson, Mississippi. Throughout the week, musicians honed their craft in masterclasses, rehearsals and workshops with world-class instructors. By night, they wowed locals with evening concerts.

One of POI’s most unique traditions? Each year, the institute hosts a composition contest, and the winning piece is premiered live by the orchestra at the final concert on the Millsaps campus. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment for composers and audiences alike.
