Shawn Leopard

Harpsichord/Keyboard

Shawn Leopard received her BA degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Southern Mississippi and MA degree in Musicology from Indiana University with special emphasis on early music performance, where teachers included Dana Ragsdale, Lois Leventhal, and Elisabeth Wright. Ms. Leopard teaches and performs in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was associated for 23 years with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral as a professional soloist and consultant. Her specialty in early music performance as a continuo player and harpsichordist has been admired in many concerts with various groups and orchestras throughout the South and Northwest.

Shawn began a collaboration with John Paul in 1996 to explore and perform the repertoire of music written for two harpsichords. They focus on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons, and often create their own transcriptions of music suited to their medium. They have toured extensively in the Southeastern and Central United States and recorded to critical acclaim with Lyrichord Discs of New York City and Centaur of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Shawn is currently a musician with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and a piano instructor at Jackson State University. She served as the MSO Librarian from 2005-2018.
