Trombone

Ken Lyon, bass trombone, tenor trombone, and euphonium, earned his Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied with Larry Weed, Scott McMorran, and Mickey Moore, was a featured artist on the euphonium and trombone on USM band concerts under Dr. Joe Barry Mullins, and was “jazz trombone” in the USM Jazz Lab Band under Raoul Jerome. During that time, he also performed in concert at the T.U.B.A. International Symposium at North Texas State University. Ken has occupied the Bass Trombone chair with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 1985, as well as performing on tenor trombone and euphonium as a member of the Capital Brass Quintet since 1984. He is currently a retired public school teacher, husband and father, and is active in the greater Jackson area as a freelance trombonist and private lesson instructor.
