This delightful evening takes full advantage of Woodworth Chapel’s excellent acoustics – from Saint-Saens’ vibrant Septet to Mozart’s virtuosic Oboe Quartet featuring MSO’s Julie Hudik. Don’t miss the welcome return of Jessie Montgomery’s mesmerizing Strum in the spotlight with the Mississippi Symphony String Quartet and Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet in a standout moment for MSO’s new Principal Clarinet.
Julie Hudik, oboe
Julie Hudik MSO Principal Oboe Julie Hudik earned a Bachelor of Music at Kent State University and a Master of Music Performance at Baylor University, where she performed with the Waco Symphony Orchestra. She attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music as a Fellow and earned an Artist’s Certificate in Oboe Performance. Julie has performed in notable masterclasses and orchestras of Missouri and Texas, and as a freelance musician.
Jorge Diez, clarinet
Jorge Diez Jorge Diez, a native of Medellin, Colombia, has been appointed as the new Principal Clarinetist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Diez has performed across three continents and in six countries, including the United States, Italy, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, and Panama. He has collaborated with notable orchestras such as The Alabama Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Huntsville Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Simon Bolivar Symphony, and Medellin Philharmonic, among others.
