World music + Prokofiev brilliance
Grammy-winning guest tabla master Sandeep Das, a member of the Silk Road Ensemble, tells the stories of distant lands in Dinuk Wijeratne’s spellbinding Concerto for Tabla and Orchestra in a concert that heralds the Hindu spring festival Holi. The evening further entrances with Erik Satie’s Gymnopedie and Prokofiev’s exhilarating Symphony No. 5.

Sandeep Das Guest tablist, Sandeep Das, leads a prolific international musical career characterized by tradition, innovation, and a passion for spreading love and joy. The Grammy-winning composer, educator, and Guggenheim Fellow began his training at age 7 and debuted at 17. He collaborates with top musicians and ensembles from across the globe — Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, with whom he has performed for the past 21 years, as well as Paquito D’Rivera, Bobby McFerrin, and iconic orchestras like the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and Chicago Symphony.
