Originally from Southeast Alaska, Dr. Rob Detjen is an accomplished hornist, educator, and arts administrator whose career spans performance, higher education, and arts advocacy. He serves as fourth horn of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and as Assistant Professor of Music—Horn at the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also the Contract Administrator for Mississippi Whole Schools and performs with Southern Arts Brass Quintet. In addition, he holds the position of second horn with both the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Detjen holds degrees from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Oregon.
Now based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Rob enjoys life with his amazing wife and their two wonderful children. Whether performing on stage, teaching in the studio, or working behind the scenes to support arts education, he remains passionate about the power of music to connect, inspire, and enrich communities.
