The spotlight truly homes in on MSO players in a program showcasing their standout skills and talents. Spohr’s Nonet, a landmark 1813 chamber work for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and strings, is adored for its inventive, beautiful melodies, soulful themes and cheerful finish. Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet highlights MSO Principal Clarinet Jorge Diez and the Mississippi Symphony String Quartet in a richly rewarding dialogue that lingers long after the last note.

Talent Bio
Jorge Diez, clarinet
MSO’s Principal Clarinetist Jorge Diez is a native of Colombia. He has performed across three continents and in six countries, and collaborated with notable orchestras under the baton of renowned conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel. With an undergraduate degree from El Sistema de Orquestas and a Doctorate in Clarinet Performance from the University of Alabama, Diez is also a performing artist for Selmer Paris and D’Addario Woodwinds.
