bassoon love + orchestral suite
Settle in for a lovely evening that starts with a Vivaldi string concerto and a Corelli concerto grosso and finishes in grand style with Bach’s stellar Orchestra Suite No. 2. In between, enjoy two fabulous Vivaldi bassoon concertos in the skilled hands of MSO’s own Taylor Shorey, cutting loose in spirited romps that show off the instrument’s melodic grace, jaunty nimbleness and undeniable charm.

MSO Principal Bassoonist Taylor Shorey is an active performer of solo and chamber music. He earned his BA at Florida State University and graduate degrees at Colburn School and Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Shorey has been a featured soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra and toured with the Colburn wind quintet. Honors include first prize in the 2023 William Winstead Solo and Artistry Competition and sole US representative in the final round of the Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition.
