Featuring Amulet Strange, Principal Flute

Jackson, Mississippi, May 3, 2021—On Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 7:30pm, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra wraps up its Selby and Richard McRae Foundation Bravo series with “Delightful Airs: Rutter, Britten and Respighi”, which features solo flute with harpsichord and string orchestra. Amulet Strange, MSO Principal Flute, is the first MSO wind instrument to return as a soloist since the start of the pandemic.

 John Rutter’sSuite Antiqueopens the program with its gorgeous and springlike themes. Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Airsand Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony” are the bright sparkle and lyrical lift that suit the 76th season quite well. Amulet Strange says of her return as a soloist, “I feel a sense of normal coming back”. She’s embracing the opportunity, “just to be in rehearsal and be a part of MSO again, in a performance role”.

Tickets ($20) are available in advance only and must be purchased online at Limited seating is socially distanced at Thalia Mara Hall, with mask required for entry.
