SUMMARY:Chamber 2: Resonant Song
DESCRIPTION:This is a FREE concert open to all. \n\n\n\n\n\nResonant Song \nmulti-cultural matinee + conversation \nCelebrate the capital city’s deep well of creativity\, as Jackson soprano DeAnna Tisdale Johnson lends her stunning voice to Margaret Walker’s best-loved poems in three song-settings by Crafton Beck in an afternoon program that sweeps from classical to current. Tchaikovsky’s beloved Andante Cantabile opens\, followed by the jaunty folk fun of Scott Joplin’s The Ragtime Dance. Kinan Azmeh’s alluring Ibn Arabi Postlude\, Thomas Adés’ arrangements of Madness’ Cardiac Arrest and Couperin’s Les Barricades Mystérieuses\, Trevor Weston’s funk-influenced Dig It and Eddie James’ God with the Cade Chapel Choir complete an afternoon of classic favorites and bold new works. An informal conversation with musicians\, Beck and the Rev. Reginald Buckley follows. \nFor more details\, expand toggles below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsors\n\n\n\nMSO’s Chamber Concert Series presented by: \n \nConcert sponsored by: \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConcert Program\n\n\n\nPeter Tchaikovsky\, Andante Cantabile  \nScott Joplin\, The Rag Time Dance \nCrafton Beck\, Three Songs on Poems by Margaret Walker – Deanna Tisdale Johnson\, soprano \nKinan Azmeh\, Ibn Arabi Postlude \nMadness/Thomas Adés\, Cardiac Arrest   \nFrançois Couperin/Thomas Adés\, Les Baricades Mistérieuses \nTrevor Weston\, Dig It \nEddie James\, God – Cade Chapel Choir \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeatured Musician\n\n\n\nLyric Soprano DeAnna Tisdale Johnson captivates audiences with her versatile artistry.
