DESCRIPTION:Admission: Pay-As-You-Can\n\n\n\n\nSymphony in the Community \nConcert & conversation \nIn addition to our regular season\, MSO is pleased to introduce new opportunities to hear fresh voices. These collaborative concerts celebrate the rich local talents of our shared community of music. The informal\, free matinees present innovative combinations and unexpected wonders in repertoire and performance\, plus offer a post-concert opportunity to chat with the artists\, share insights and learn more. \nAcclaimed cellist Patrice Jackson returns to her Cade Chapel family roots with solo highlights revisiting time-honored spirituals and premiering her own world-music-centered work. This informal matinee also includes a “dialogue” of Aaron Copland and Florence Price works\, and concludes with a post-concert chat. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis concert is sponsored by \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeatured Musicians\n\n\n\nPatrice Jackson\, cello\nPatrice Jackson Charismatic guest cellist Patrice Jackson is a winner of the nationally renowned Sphinx Competition and the recipient of the Yale University Aldo Parisot Prize. She received both a Bachelor of Music and Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School\, and a Master of Music from the Yale School of Music. The Jackson native has performed with orchestras and ensembles nationwide\, plus played behind iconic artists Alicia Keys\, Kanye West\, J-Cole\, and Stevie Wonder. Currently on the faculty of Boston’s Berklee College of Music and its Conservatory\, Patrice is also the new artistic director of its Film Scoring Orchestra division\, and teaches at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artist Program. \nTerrance Evans\, piano\nTerrance Evans Guest pianist Terrance Evans has traveled\, recorded\, and performed with various local and national artists. A native of Jackson\, he continues to develop his artistry through instruction\, performance\, collaboration\, and production. Terrance holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Jackson State University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Mississippi\, both with emphasis on piano performance.
